Made from the original canvas shelters inhabited by the victims of 26th December 2004 Tsunami. Designed by IMPAKTaid volunteers who cared not only for the well being of those who lived in the shelters but also for the environmental and health hazards the disposal would create. Groups of impoverished women in the Galle area were organized to create this unique product. By cutting, cleaning and sewing these bags the women of Sri Lanka were taught a trade and earned a living that continues today through the Work For Widows program of IMPAKTaid. The Tsunami Tent Bag represents compassion, healing, strength of survival, kindness and hope.
