Artisan Lillinona
After the loss of her husband, Lillinona experienced another tragedy in her life. The loss of her daughter and son in law to the wave of the Tsunami. The trials of living in poverty increased as Lillinona was now trying to find a way to feed and care for her two grandchildren.
Without any means to create an income, Lillinona was facing the terrible decision to give up her rights of the children and place them in a state-run orphanage.
Lillinona became the first woman supporting her grandchildren to join the Work For Widows program. A moment that remains so poignant to the volunteers, was watching Lillinona’s granddaughter help her thread a needle with such pride as she witnessed her grandmother become empowered.
